Acoustic Rock
Description: Jim and Bob Spinelli have been performing together since the late 70’s. Jim had been playing bass with area bands Grandelusion and Loose Change. Younger Bob would tag along whenever they played a venue that was open to all ages. Jim and Bob decided to put an acoustic act together calling themselves the Hopkins Brothers.
In 1980 older brother Dan returned from the Air Force. The 3 Spinelli Brothers, along with brother Mike running sound and drummer Robert Moon (from Jim’s previous bands), formed The Hopkins Brothers Band. That name lasted for 2 gigs and was quickly replaced with The Characters. The Characters have been playing Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll for 30 years.
Over the last few years Jim and Bob revived their acoustic act. This is their 3rd year playing for the Roxbury Bandshell Preservation Alliance Concerts. Their music includes Americana, Folk, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country and Blues. Jim’s son Josh has been playing in the area over the last few years with The Crew, Paul Revere’s Horse, and as a solo performer. Recently Josh and younger brother Jarod formed their own version of the Spinelli Brothers.
Their music follows in the footsteps of the older Spinellis with a somewhat more contemporary leaning.

Rock & Roll
Description: For over two decades & without a personnel change, The Rain has been a staple in the music scene throughout western PA and beyond.
Always finding the right mix of great music and fun, it’s no wonder that after 20 years these guys can still fill a room. Driven by strong vocals and tight grooves, The Rain always delivers a powerful blend of true classic rock and originals. Whether it is a radio hit or a forgotten deep cut, each set will guarantee at least one, “Wow, who did that song???” moment.
While much has changed personally for each member of the Rain over the years, the high quality of the music has remained consistent. It is for this reason you will see so many return faces at each Rain show. Each person never knowing what song they will pull out next.

Description: Tim Dabbs is a musical storyteller who will take you on a journey across our
great country, through our history and through your own emotions. You’ll feel as
if you know some of the folks who are the characters in his songs; the
grandmother who introduced him to an old player piano in Worn Ivory Keys, or
perhaps the immigrants who built the churches in Cambria City, in his anthem,
Cambria Bells. . Chesapeake Bay waterman, the barnstorming pilots of the early
airmail service and railroadmen - the people, places and history of America,
many inspired by the Johnstown area.
As always Tim's performance at the Roxbury Bandshell will take place
rain or shine.
