Hailing from Greenville, SC, Angela Easterling brandishes her songwriting chops with rootsy, refreshing, homespun tunes. Her duo partner, Brandon Turner, masters many complex styles, with instrumentation that fleshes out the stories in Angela’s songs, and adds some rocking fun and harmony. Their act is not quite country, not quite folk, but altogether unique and engaging.
Angela has previously played many times over the years in Johnstown, including at the Flood City Music Fest in 2012, but this will be her first performance in Johnstown in nearly 4 years, after taking some time off touring to be with her children. Angela included a song she wrote about the 1889 Flood on her 2011 album, Beguiler.
“Angela is really great and her record is a joy.” Buddy Miller
“Angela Easterling & Brandon Turner are the shining example of what Americana music is. It is inspiring. Great songs. Great singing. Great guitar playing. Everything is so tasty.
They have got it.” Jim Lauderdale
“Angela Easterling is a bright shining star on the country/folk/alt.music horizon! Her gift is so special. I loved listening to her CD! Brought me back to the time the Byrds recorded “Sweetheart of the Rodeo” – tradition meets youthful exuberance!” Roger McGuinn, The Byrds
